Spanning across 6.8 million sq.ft, Mina Rashid is a beautiful waterfront mega-development set in the historic area of Port Rashid. The vast project is a joint venture between Emaar and P&O Marinas, a subsidiary of DP World – UAE Region. To be more specific, Emaar is responsible for the actual development work, while P&O Marinas has provided the land plot and will continue to provide the berthing facilities and marinas
Port Rashid, the first commercial port of Dubai, opened back in 1972 and was named after Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. With a colossal area of 32 million sq.ft, the port offered 35 berths at the peak of its operations, 5 of which were capable of accommodating the biggest container ships at that time. However, in the 2000’s it was redeveloped as a cruise terminal, although it still has berths for commercial usage.
Inspired by Portofino, Monte Carlo and Porto Cervo, the upcoming AED 25B (USD 6.8B) project is set to combine a new marina with a Riviera-style waterfront residential area overlooking the Persian Gulf. There will be 7 districts with a selection of mid-rise apartments with promenades, alongside a Venetian-style shopping piazza. As well as this, the master plan includes hotels, high-end retail outlets, interconnected parks, art galleries, a theater, a museum and a 1,640 ft long palm tree-fringed canal, which will provide plenty of entertainment and leisure options for residents and visitors.
